Job Summary

The Fund Accountant for American Trust Wealth will perform administrative and accounting duties for a local government investment pool. Duties include maintaining financial data and recordkeeping, processing income distributions, daily participant funding, reconciliation, and general financial services.

 

Responsibilities

Prepare timely and accurate Net Assets Values, yields, distributions, and other fund accounting output for subsequent review
Perform daily tasks including security buy/sell tickets, packet verifications, approving wires and ACH, website uploads
Record accurately, and in accordance with the Department policies and procedures, such accounting records as securities positions, and journal entries
Reconcile various accounts, or reviewing reconciliations prepared by others, and promptly researching and correcting any variances
Identify exceptions and problems affecting accounting records and prices, communicating same to management, and assisting in their resolution
Assist, as assigned, in preparing audit schedules, compliance reports, GAAP financial statements, or other reports
Write reports periodically to management on Fund activities and other related issues
Research, as assigned, certain securities in Fund portfolios for the purpose of ensuring proper accounting treatment (such as the nature of distributions)
Institutional fund accounting processes also include preparing, reconciling and distributing reports to/from marketing, separate custodians and investment management
Participate in regular rotation of trade processing and other accounting processes to prepare the fund accounting system for next day activity.
Keeps apprised of regulatory environment and rules as it relates to securities and fund accounting
Back up for other accountants for absences primarily in the cash and billing functions.
Various projects as necessary
Answer and resolve customer phone calls proficiently
Answer and resolve customer emails accurately

 

Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with exposure to finance or any other analytical course work
5+ years of related experience in financial services
5+ years of related accounting experience
Possesses excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and analytical skills
Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft software. (Excel – such as using Vlookups, pivot tables, “if/then’ formulas)
Problem Solving: Uses issue identification, data relation and comparison, pattern recognition, and information gathering to create analyses and make recommendations

General Knowledge of Fixed Income Securities; US Treasuries & Agencies, Corporate Bonds, etc.
General Knowledge of Government Account Standard Board Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Preferred experience in fund accounting software systems; LineData. Understand relation of General ledger, Trial Balance and Shareholder Register.

 

Salary: $47,500 – $68,500 base salary, based on experience, plus eligibility to participate in company’s bonus program.
